Good News from Moscow

Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov has said he will never allow a gay rights parade in the Russian capital.

"Last year, Moscow came under unprecedented pressure to sanction the gay parade, which cannot be called anything other than satanic," Mr Luzhkov said.

"We did not let the parade take place then, and we are not going to allow it in the future," he said.

Moscow is many things, the most important of which may not be instantly apparent. Renowned for her onion domes and high cost of living for expatriates, Moscow has once again shown herself to be among the last sensible capitals of Europe.

No doubt, homosexual activists will protest and complain about their "fundamental rights" being denied, in their attempt to make the Russian authorities look like vicious, right-wing homophobic bigots.

I really cannot understand why a pride parade would be a "right" so many are willing to fight for - to quote a gay, but Catholic friend years ago, "no normal, dignified adult would wear a rainbow-coloured sash to tell strangers how he likes to reach orgasm".

Good news from Russia? To deny people rights? You find happiness when mad Russians are filled with rage and hate?

You have no clue do you? Are you so bitter, so shallow?

Rainbow sash has nothing to do with the heart. Orgasm is what fascinated you, right?

Learn about Orthodoxy before you condemn gays with joy. This does make you a right-wing homophobe. And it says you have no heart.

Check google. Orthodox gays are the ones teaching you, leading you, giving you the Sacraments.

Then again, you are in a sexist, racist, xenophobic, homophobic culture. You have to protect your identity.

Hi, Constantine. Not all of us Orthodox thought that was "good news." I cried when I read about the violence the Russians do to the gays. Is that Christ-like, to hurt people, make them bleed, suffer? Why do you think this is "good news"? You have a pretty blog and some nice posts. I will pray for you. :)
